While the action in this film about three young people taking over a fish concession is fast-paced and the acting realistic and convincing, the lessons to be learned are exactly what the communist government wants learned at this time. Basically, the three youths get into a limited private business, make good financially, and come to value honesty in the process. When the trio first take over the fish stall they try to make some extra money by cheating their customers but are quickly found out. Ashamed of what they did, they decide to go straight and behave. A romantic involvement develops with only a few hitches, and when a businessman from Macao sees how well the trio is doing with their fish stall, he decides to pull up stakes and join them in China's booming small-business world. Perhaps as some insurance to local viewers, statements are clear that this small business prosperity is going to continue indefinitely.
