A child's eye view of the world takes on a mysterious and powerful quality in this experimental short subject from artist and filmmaker Anna Lange. Images of animals and natural landscapes, reflecting the world as Lange remembers it from her youth, are captured in stark black and white as they flash across the screen in rapid succession. Xenia was originally filmed on Super-8 film stock and blown up to 35mm for exhibition; the film is shown as a three-panel triptych accompanied by the music of Louis Andriessen. Xenia was screened in competition at the 2007 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
