When a health inspector (Mignon Anderson) tries to have a building condemned, she is told that it belongs to the mayor. Still, she insists on wri ting up a report and, as a result she is fired. She then appeals to the press only to discover that the mayor has all the papers under his control; her next step is to take the case to the governor. The mayor and his henchmen try to discredit the health inspector before the hearing, but they are foiled by a young man (George Marlo) who has befriended her. Then a couple of the mayor's men commit her to an insane asylum. The young man manages to get her out and they arrive at the hearing just as the mayor is asking that the charges be dismissed. With the girl's appearance the verdict against him is assured. The young man, it turns out, is the governor's secretary, who was sent over to investigate the case.
