Though America was still officially neutral in the second year of WWI, public sympathy was slowly but surely shifting toward the Allies and away from the Germans. Running about 500 feet, With the Allies at Salonica was filmed by the British combat camera corps. Some of the scenes were shot from the gondola of an observation balloon launched from the deck of the H.M.S. Canning. Undoubtedly, this film would be fascinating viewing for modern-day war buffs, but unfortunately With the Allies at Salonica apparently no longer exists. Likewise missing is its companion feature, the split-reel animated cartoon Has It Ever Happened to You?
