Directed by screen villain Wilbur McGaugh, this modest, independently produced silent Western starred Guinn "Big Boy" Williams in the title role, a happy-go-lucky cowboy whose friend (Dan Peterson) helps him obtain the job of payroll guard of a mine. Having fallen for the miner's pretty daughter (Peggy O'Day), Whistling Jim discovers too late that he is actually a patsy for a gang of gold thieves headed by his "friend." With Peggy's help, Jim sets a trap for the gang by giving them false instructions. When the bandits attack the payroll office, the sheriff's men are there to receive them. Nothing out of the usual, this film was written by its leading lady, Peggy O'Day, and released by Poverty Row company Arrow.
