Before Esther Williams there was Annette Kellerman, "the Diving Venus." The thin plot of this comedy-melodrama has something to do with tomboyish Annabelle Cotton (Kellerman) screwing up the work of her father, a reformer (Ralph Lewis). The hero, Willie St. John (Wheeler Oakman), is a fine upstanding young man who finally figures out that "what women love" is he-man type stuff, which is how he wins Annabelle. But none of this really matters -- the whole picture is purely an excuse to show off Kellerman's figure in a one-piece bathing suit, and to have her make a spectacular 150-foot dive off a schooner's mast. The star also shows her athletic abilities in an exciting undersea fight with one of the villains... actually she sounds even more macho than the film's hero!
