In this youthful Japanese drama, full-time high school day students from the upper class are compared to the less wealthy night students who must work to stay in school. Both groups inhabit the same building, but they never see each other. One day a female day student leaves a note for the night student who uses her desk. They have never met, and when the night student receives the note he misunderstands and is terribly offended by what he sees as a patronizing gesture. He sends back an obscene note that starts a war between the students. Amid seduction and rape, the socially disparate students finally meet. In the end, the faction leaders end the rivalry via a motorcycle race and peace resumes.
