This speculative Vitagraph two-reeler would seem to be beholden to the 1910 Charles Urban production Battle in the Clouds. The popular Earle Williams and Edith Storey starred in the film, which was made to capitalize on the then-raging war in Europe (it wouldn't "officially" become WWI until a year or so later). The hero is a young aviator, the son of an (apparently) English army general. The hero's sweetheart is also loved by a flyboy Count, who seems to be of German heritage. Inevitably, this romantic triangle is resolved in a savage air battle, high above the clouds. Though no names or countries are mentioned, it is safe to assume that Warfare in the Skies was supposed to be taking place in France.
