This Biograph human-interest drama ran a spare 296 feet. The story focuses on a poor family with too many children. The parents never cease complaining about their huge and expensive brood; thus, when a wealthy couple offers to adopt some of the kids, it would seem that the poorer couple have found a way out. But after thinking it over, the father of the children sends the would-be adoptive couple a heartfelt letter: "Dear Brother: Me and my wife have thought over your kind letter. At first we were going to spare you all our children, but we find we are too poor to spare one." Film historian Robert M. Henderson has suggested that this film was inspired by a childhood incident in the life of its director, D.W. Griffith.
