From 1972 to 1981, Austrian diplomat and politician Kurt Waldheim served as the secretary-general of United Nations, and from 1986 to 1992 as the president of Austria. This 1988 documentary explores long-held allegations against Waldheim relating to his 1942-45 tenure in the German armed forces. In a mock trial in front of a panel of judges, historians and lawyers present evidence for and against claims that Waldheim knew of and participated in war crimes during his military career.
