RKO seemed to have the monopoly on African features in the mid-1950s. Wakamba is the story of a warrior from the eponymous tribe, who intends to prove his worth by killing a huge elephant. He then intends to offer the elephant's tusks in exchange for the bride of his choice. Producer Edgar M. Queeny was not completely successful in hiding the fact that, in reality, the warrior never came anywhere near the elephant. The most entertaining aspect of Wakamba was its revolutionary new "directional sound" system, later perfected by Bell Laboratories.
