In this witty installation from British video artist Kelly Richardson, a car hangs gracefully in mid-air over a canyon, followed by a trail of dust. However, the car doesn't move -- it simply hangs in the air as clouds drift by and life goes on in the background. So how did the car get there, and how long can it go on defying the laws of gravity? The viewer is given no clue as the machine seemingly follows the logic of an old cartoon. Wagons Roll (The Remake) is a new version of a piece Richardson first displayed in 2003; unlike the original, the revised work incorporates high-definition video technology to create a more realistic moving image. Originally presented at Toronto's Birch Libralato Gallery, Wagons Roll (The Remake) was also featured at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival as part of the "New Frontiers On Main" program.
