The Czech filmmaker Zdenek Brickovský justly sustains a reputation as one of the foremost sociological documenters (and observers) of rapidly-fading indigenous cultures. Beginning in 1996, Brickovský journeyed from town to town in Eastern Europe, cameras rolling, and captured the vestiges of numerous societies and lifestyles that threatened to ultimately fade from existence. Vorga: A Path of Two Banks finds the documentarian hearkening off to northernmost Russia, where he records the nuances of life for a nomadic group called The Nenets. While the vast majority of these individuals have relocated in massive settlements, Brickovský locates at least one remaining family struggling against all odds to preserve the traditions of their ancestors.
