A positive advertisement for an upbeat Mexican spirit in song and dance and attitude, this is an otherwise routine musical-romance with a touch of Western thrown in for good measure. A young orphan (María Pons) wants to follow in the footsteps of her departed mother and succeed in the entertainment industry. She falls in love with a young man (Manuel Capetillo, a former bullfighter) who aspires to become a matador. Although the two are determined to stay together, their relatives are not necessarily in agreement. Once they get away to the city lights, some real-life entertainers get in on the act (The Tex Mex Trio, the Five Latins, and others).
