The title of this low-budget movie, Verdes Años or the "green years" could equally apply to most of its crew, its screenwriter, directors, and actors who were hovering around 20 -- give or take a year or two -- when they produced this story about political repression and its effects on their generation. The focus is on three days in the southern state of Rio Grande do Sul and how future professionals, workers, and homemakers are experiencing their rites of passage via multiple difficulties with parents and peers, fights, awakening love, dances, and various obstacles at school. In spite of their youth and low budget, the film's creators and crew have done an admirable job in putting together a creditable story with moments that work as comedy and drama.
