The title of this Danish drama translates roughly to Youth at Play. But there's nothing playful or lighthearted in this story of two teenagers from broken homes. Despite the domestic problems all around him, the young hero and heroine fall in love. The narrative is framed in the form of a lecture on sexual relations, an ironic counterpart to the essential morality of the two protagonists. The influence of western culture is underlined by the film's constant references to American films and popular music. Ung Leg was Denmark's offering to the 1957 Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
