The Siege of Paris during the Franco-Prussian War provides the backdrop for this Pathe melodrama. With supplies running out, a French family faces starvation. Braving the bullets whizzing all around him, the oldest son ventures forth to find food and milk for his baby brother. Taken prisoner by the enemy, the boy explains the reasons for his odyssey to a Prussian general. Admiring the boy's unconscious heroism, the general sees to it that the family is supplied with enough provisions to weather the rest of the Siege. Within four years, a sympathetic German character in a French film would be as rare as a pimple on a wooden duck.
