The oldest son of a large family is already 30 and not yet married. He is an office clerk with the soul of a poet and is highly perceptive, but his prospects for marriage are not the same as other men his age because of his deformity: he is a hunchback. Every night when he lands on his cot to sleep, surrounded by his siblings sleeping on the floor around him, he dreams of being able to escape his situation -- maybe having a beautiful woman fall in love with him or dancing like John Travolta. As these funny sequences float through his imagination, reality always comes back with a bang. One day, his mother arranges a marriage for him with a woman he has not yet seen. Her family is as overcrowded as his, and one of the conditions for marriage is that he finds a place for himself and his bride to live. But in this city, as in other large cities, a man could find ten brides before finding one good apartment -- and the young man's luck seems to be no different. Will his quest prove successful? He lets his imagination conjure up other fantasy sequences, and maybe just for once, reality will follow his wishes.
