This Western was based on the novel by Marah Ellis Ryan. When a mother from the South dies, she makes her sons, Jack (Robert Warwick) and Charles (Tom Forman), promise to take care of her ward, a teenage girl. Charles betrays the girl and takes off for New Orleans, where he marries someone else. The girl has a child, and Jack marries her just to give the infant a name. He then leaves her with all his possessions and heads for Montana. He is known as Genessee Jack. Even though he has sworn off women altogether, Rachel Hardy (Ann Little) falls in love with him. Determined to discourage her, he insists that he is a "squaw man" (married to an Indian woman). This does not stop her from believing in him, and her faith remains steadfast even when he is accused of being a horse thief. There is an Indian uprising because their messenger was killed, and Rachel enlists Jack's help in putting a halt to the fighting. It almost costs him his life when he is ambushed. While he lay near death, Charles finally shows up and admits that Jack married a woman that he himself had ruined. News of her death frees Jack to pursue a romance with Rachel.
