Former assistant director to the likes of Shun Nakahara and Kaizo Hayashi, Yukinari Hanawa spins this drama about foreigners struggling to make it in the indifferent and insular world of Tokyo. The film centers on Zhou (Xiu Jian), a hustler who has been subsisting on petty crimes and con games. Though he has lived in Tokyo for five years, he still has a hard time fathoming the culture, much less creating a niche of his own. One day, an attractive Japanese woman named Kyoko (Mika Takahashi), who is looking for her Chinese boyfriend, approaches him for help. Seemingly an easy mark, he tries to hustle her only to discover that she's as tough as nails. Not long after he falls for her, he begins to suspect that he in fact has been hustled. Other narrative lines include a Japanese artist (Yukio Yamato) returning to the mother land after a ten-year trip in New York and a naïve Pakistani scion (Ali Ahmed) of a wealthy family who loses his way in the neon-drenched sprawl of Tokyo.
