Julia Monroe (Ruth Roland) is the spoiled daughter of an oil magnate. The men working at Monroe's oil wells are unhappy with working conditions and the poor quality of the food they're served is the last straw. After they wreck the the mess shack, Monroe realizes he must do something to placate them. He sends superintendent Lee Payne (Henry King) -- Julia's fiancé -to town to get more food. He is supposed to return quickly with the supplies but he runs into Julia who selfishly convinces him to spend the evening with her. The workers riot and a spark causes a fire that destroys the oil works. When Lee and Julia return home, he is fired and she finds her father ruined.
