Iranian director Ali Reza Amini's relentlessly slow, bleak and deliberate psychological drama Time Frozen documents the arduous trek through the mountains of an expectant, unnamed young mother (Hanieh Tavasoli). Determined to reach her lover (and the father of her child), she sets out, by herself, in below-zero weather - talking constantly yet softly to the unborn infant, playing head games with herself and uttering whispered prayers. Along the way, her voyage becomes one of brutal self-discovery and disillusionment - disillusionment that comes to a head when she finally happens upon a campfire and an utterly grotesque surprise.
