What with the success of the three-camera, curved-screen Cinerama process, it was inevitable that some entrepreneur or other would come up with a less costly imitation. Thrillarama is nothing more nor less than a 96-minute commercial for the eponymous photographic process. One advantage Thrillarama had over its Cinerama competition was that it required only two projectors. The main disadvantage was that the two images were crudely joined together, with the split in the middle all too obvious. Even so, audiences were delighted by Thrillarama's glimpses of an underwater ballet and an all-female precison drill team.
