Produced by low-budget filmmaker William Steiner, this 16-chapter preparedness serial starred veteran stage actor Edwin Stevens as a fanatical Mongolian bent on destroying the good old U.S.A. Racist to the nth degree, this serial is remembered solely as the chapterplay debut of Frank Lackteen. According to Lackteen himself, he showed up on the serial's New York location and was immediately hired by producer Steiner to play a Chinese heavy. The Lebanese-born actor would go on to portray sneering villains -- Arabs, Orientals, "half-breeds," Native Americans, etc. -- in hundreds of serials and action-melodramas until his retirement in 1965. Directed by William Kennedy, The Yellow Menace also featured Florence Malone, Margaret Dale, and Armand Cortes.
