Although Henry Walthall was better known for his dramatic roles such as the Little Colonel in Birth of a Nation, he also performed light comedy credibly, as he demonstrates here. Wealthy Jack Warder (Walthall) firmly insists that he hates women, so his friend Dick Wainwright (Bryant Washburn) makes a bet with Mabel Willing (Edna Mayo) that she can't get him to propose. Then Warder is kidnapped and taken aboard a yacht loaded with young lovelies, including Mabel. Her persistence wins out and Warder does ask her to marry him. But he bolts from the altar -- twice. Finally, Mabel convinces him to try it one more time by promising that she will say "No" at the appropriate moment. But of course she says "I do" instead and Warder is hooked.
