Eclipse's The Water Flyer ran about 106 feet, or approximately three minutes. To Variety's way of thinking, it was two minutes too long. The film consists of a high-speed boat race, the outcome of which is obvious from the start. The "water flyer" speeds through the foam with three courageous young men at the helm, leaving any and all competitors far behind. This sort of film had become quite commonplace by 1910, and audiences were beginning to grow audibly impatient. Water Flyer was originally released on the same reel as Eclipse's At the Bar of Justice.
