To millions of faithful Shiites across the globe, the annual Ashura Ceremony commemorating the martyrdom of Prophet Muhammad's grandson is one of the most intense religious experiences imaginable. In 61 B.C., the Ommeyades killed Imam Hussein in Karbala, and now, centuries later, the masses still mourn his passing. For ten days every year, Shiites pay honor to Imam Hussein by taking part in ten days of prayer and parades. Though the remarkable event is rarely witnessed by outsiders, filmmaker Michel Tabet travels to the South Lebanon city of Nabatieh so that the masses may be able to witness this extraordinary event firsthand.
