Monroe Salisbury stars in this drama set during the California gold rush. The miners of Spanish Bar are lonely for some good women, so they send a character named Oily Jones back East to find some ladies they can marry. He returns with a number of them, one of whom (Alice Elliott) has ulterior motives -- she's looking for Velvet Eddy (Clyde Fillmore), a gambler who kidnapped her child and brought him to California. One of the men who doesn't get a bride is Quiet Carter (Salisbury), but he winds up being of use to the young widow, who he finds being attacked by Eddy. He rescues her, but she insists on going back, without revealing that she's looking for her child. She gets lost in the mountains and loses her memory after passing out in a cabin belonging to the notorious Rosita (Beatrice Dominguez). Rosita steals her clothes, and the widow is mistaken for her. A vigilante committee is trying to rid the town of loose women, and Carter saves the widow by marrying her. He kills Eddy in a knife fight and saves the widow from the advances of yet another scoundrel. Her memory returns and her child is restored to her.
