Born on an impoverished Indian reservation in Nova Scotia, Annie Mae Aquash gets married young. After moving to Boston with her husband, she returns to Canada, where a local chief gets her interested in Native American history. Becoming more involved in the American Indian Movement organization, Annie participates in many of their protests, including their occupation of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. This documentary recounts her life and investigates her still-unsolved murder.
