Alex Caldiero is an artist who works in the medium of sound. While Caldiero is a published poet and multi-media artist, he prefers to describe himself as a "Sonosopher," a performer who breaks words down into their component sounds to better illustrate their true nature and reassess their meaning and functions. Caldiero came to his unique perspective on sound and language after an unusual life -- he was born in Sicily, traveled to New York to become a poet, relocated to Utah when he embraced the Mormon faith and stayed there even after he rejected the religion. Filmmakers Torben Bernhard and Travis Low offer a glimpse into Caldiero's life, art and philosophy in the documentary The Sonosopher: Alex Caldiero In Life . . . In Sound, a documentary that combines interviews, performance footage, photos, home movies and more to fashion a portrait of an uncompromising creative voice. The Sonosopher received its world premiere at the 2010 Cinequest Film Festival.
