This Edison one-reeler was set in an amusing approximation of Ancient Greece. Two sculptors spend the length and breadth of the film locked in a deadly feud. Their animosity reaches a fever pitch when both are commissioned to work on the same statue. The requisite slapstick climax was a long time coming, but the general consensus of filmgoers was that the ending was well worth the wait. The Rival Sculptors would seem to have a great deal in common with the like-vintage Selig comedy The Rival Dramatists.
