Based on a Victorian play by J.A. Campbell, this early British silent starred Gladys Mason as Princess of Saxonia, whose father, the king, is murdered by an usurper (Sydney Lewis Ransome). To her rescue comes her former lover, a dashing duke (Owen Roughwood). A five-reel presentation from low-budget company Clarendon, The Queen Mother was directed by Wilfred Noy, a pioneering screen actor who later played character roles in Hollywood films such as Marion Davies' Janice Meredith (1924) and Joan Crawford's Possessed (1931).
