The documentary The Portraitist examines the life of Wilhelm Brasse. Prior to WWII, Brasse was a photographer for whom the camera was his greatest passion. However, during the war, he was imprisoned in Auschwitz, where he was forced to photograph SS guards, fellow prisoners, and victims of medical experiments. Following the war, Brasse was able to rescue the camp's photographic archives, but he never took another picture.
