Bessie Allen (Violet Mersereau) is a poor slum girl whose parents both die violently. She is hit by a car belonging to wealthy Mrs. Latham and winds up in the hospital. After she heals, she becomes a cabaret dancer and meets club man Martin (Niles Welch). A theatrical manager urges him to back Bessie in a Broadway production. He does, and it's a hit. Martin, who at first was just toying with Bessie's affections, falls in love with her for real. But Mrs. Latham wants him for herself, and she uses devious methods to separate the couple. Her efforts, however, are in vain, and Bessie and Martin remain together. This picture, released by Red Feather, bears marked similarities to another one put out by the same company, Heart of a Child -- the only real difference was that Heart of a Child took place in London, and the setting to The Narrow Path was New York City.
