In this murder mystery, heiress June Baxter (Lillian Herbert) weds a Count of no-account (Guido Colucci). She only discovers this, however, when Phillipa Guerrio, a girl he has wronged (Lina Davril), shows up. June kicks him out of the house, but he refuses to get a divorce unless she gives him fifty thousand dollars (a lot of money in 1915 -- closer to a million nowadays). They agree to meet up at a hotel -- he gets room 13, she gets room 15, and Clay Foster (Marc MacDermott) -- head of the Baxter plant who loves June -- shows up and checks into room 17. Everyone, from June to Phillipa to Phillipa's father to Foster, wants to kill the Count so it's no surprise that he is found stabbed in the heart in his room. Everyone is a suspect, and Foster, believing that June committed the crime, is willing to take the fall. But it turns out that a hotel waiter killed the Count because he was after his gambling winnings. This picture bears no relation to the 1941 British film of the same name.
