An unconventional love story plays out against the backdrop of a great city fallen into decay in this documentary from filmmaker Pietro Marcello. Vincenzo Motta, known to his friends and acquaintances as Enzo, was a career criminal before he ended up in a prison in Genoa, Italy following a gunfight with the police. While serving a long sentence behind bars, Enzo met Mary Monaco, a transsexual prisoner with a long history of drug related offenses. During their time in prison, Enzo and Mary fell in love, and when she was released, she promised Enzo she would wait for him. Mary was good to her word, finding a place in Genoa and living for the day that Enzo could join her. However, by the time Enzo was finally free to join her, Mary had fallen back into heroin addiction, and it isn't long before Enzo becomes a regular drug user himself. As Marcello follows Enzo and Mary's dance with love and death, he also contemplates Genoa, a city that was once one of the most beautiful in Europe but has fallen into disrepair with the rise and fall of the industrial age. La Bocca del Lupo (aka The Mouth of the Wolf) won the Teddy Award for Best GLBT-themed documentary at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival.
