Four tales of men and women and how love can lead to manipulation and games of power are brought together in this darkly witty omnibus film from the Czech Republic. In the first segment, a pair of small children are playing "wedding" at the playground, and the young groom (Petr Kaska) soon discovers his wife (Julie Docekalova) doesn't want him to hang out with his playmates anymore. In part two, Angela (Tereza Nvotova) is a teenage girl who hangs out with a group of sexually precocious schoolmates. Angela is not happy with her mother (Klara Botkova), who has began a passionate relationship with a new man, and Angela decides to put an end to their romance by seducing her mother's new beau. The third act concerns an attractive woman who is invited by a friend to attend a weekend retreat for Christians. The woman is eager to meet a man, and she soon decides she's found just the one she wants -- the priest in charge (Jiri Vyoralek). And in the final story, an aging poet is cared for by his wife of many years, but while she often declares her love for her husband, it becomes increasingly clear that she's driving him away from the things that give his life meaning while filling his final days with agony. Kulicky (aka The Marbles) was the first feature film from director Olga Dabrowska.
