The Little Prospector was filmed at Essanay's West Coast headquarters in Niles, CA. After several frustrating years, an old prospector finally strikes gold. He spreads word of his good luck throughout a local settlement, attracting the attention of a band of claim jumpers. But before the usurpers can steal the gold for themselves, the prospector's daughter manages to scoop up all the nuggets and stake her dad's claim ahead of everyone else. It is possible that Little Prospector was directed by Essanay executive G.M. Anderson, better known to his fans as cowboy star "Broncho Billy."
