Elinor (Elsie Ferguson) lives with her alcoholic father, Sir Robert Shale (John L. Shines), on his run-down estate. She is having a happy romance with an officer, Gerald Foster (David Powell), until her sister Lucy (Betty Howe) returns from London. The man Lucy was going to marry has died and left her pregnant and alone. Elinor obligingly takes her to the country so she can have her baby, but because of a misunderstanding, Foster thinks the child is hers and breaks up with her. Lucy uses this opportunity to snag Elinor's wealthy ex. Instead of revealing her sister's lies, Elinor keeps her mouth shut and later finds happiness with Noll Dibdin (Percy Marmont), who knows the truth and admires her for her sacrifice. This picture was based on the play by Sir Henry Arthur Jones.
