This Russian docudrama concerns itself with the near-savage Tungu tribe of Siberia. The narrative concentrates on a single Tungu family, headed by an adventurous huntsman named Kima. Becoming innocently involved with a Russian fur smuggler, Kima is put on trial before his peers and coerced by the Russian to plead guilty. Before sentence can be passed, a communist official shows up out of virtually nowhere, forcing a confession out of the Russian and clearing Kima in one fell swoop. Thus, what starts out as a straightforward drama ends up a propagandistic tract.
