When Lieutenant Robert Graham (Charles Sutton) brings his daughter, Edith (Shirley Mason), from London to join him at the remote Canadian post he oversees, Corporal John Emerson (Pat O'Malley) and Reginald Annesley, who manages the trading post (Richard Tucker), become rivals for her affection. Annesley has used and cast aside Marie Beaubin, a half-breed (Sally Crute), and when she threatens to expose him, he murders her. He leaves evidence by her body that leads to Emerson, who is arrested for the killing. Edith discovers the truth by inviting Annesley to her cabin, plying him with liquor, and tricking him into a confession. Marie's brother, Pierre (Fred Jones), shoots him dead, and the "law of the North" is served.
