It was hardly coincidental that Lubin's The Irish Boy was released on Saint Patrick's Day, 1910. With Florida standing in for the Auld Sod, the story concerns an Irish lad who has grown weary of his poverty-stricken environs. He decides to head to America, there to seek his fortune. Once on U.S. soil, the enterprising hero quickly rises to a position of wealth and prominence. In an excessively happy ending, the Irish Boy not only marries the girl of his dreams, but almost enables his poor-but-proud mother and father to join him under the banner of the red, white, and blue.
