Lacking the usual objective journalism of documentaries on the atrocities committed during Hitler's reign of terror, The Executioners fails to handle its subject matter in a way that shows respect for the audience. The main focus of the film by Felix Podmanitzky is the Nuremburg trials, including the footage at the trials that documented war crimes by the accused. While ostensibly looking into the history of various defendants, this docu wanders off in tangents that have no justification in the narrative. For example, do viewers really need to see Eva Braun swimming in the nude to better understand Nazism?
