The late Eva Peron was barely cold in her grave when this hastily assembled American-Argentine documentary hit the screens in September of 1952. The Eva Peron Story dwells neither on the contradictory character traits of its subject nor the controversy surrounding the dictatorial Juan Peron regime in Argentina. The viewer is offered just the basic facts, in as detached a manner as possible. While the English narration by Ray Morgan is reverential, it never fawns on Ms. Peron. The most effectives scenes concern the massive turnout for Evita's funeral (one can almost hear Don't Cry for Me, Argentina in the background) and the humanitarian activities of Ms.Peron's various charitable organizations. Generous portions of The Eva Peron Story later showed up in such American TV documentary series as The 20th Century and Biography.
