This formula Western starred minor cowboy star Bob Custer. Wilson, an old prospector, is found murdered and Sonora Slim (Custer) is accused of the crime. The real killer is actually Silver Sam McGee (frequent screen villain Robert McKim, dressed in his usual get-up of long black coat, broad-brimmed hat, and bow tie). McGee, with his band of fellow outlaws, makes a habit of taking over other people's mines and tries to cover his tracks by making Slim appear guilty. Wilson's daughter, Alice (Nita Cavaleri), has faith that Slim is innocent, but it takes more than faith to get him out of his fix -- McGee has him kidnapped and deposits him in a mine that is about to be blown up. Slim somehow manages to extricate himself from danger ("tossing off one thrill after another as calmly as a duck shedding water," according to Moving Picture World). Because of Slim's heroics, McGee's nefarious schemes fail and he wins Alice.
