A huge London ferris wheel was the focal point of the Eclair three-reeler The Dare Devil Circus Queen. It all begins as a jewel thief and his confederates elude capture by joining a circus troupe. The titular heroine, a bareback rider, suspects that her new co-workers are not all they claim to be, but before she can alert the authorities, the crooks have scrambled away. It so happens that the heroine's act consists of jumping from a ferris wheel while astride a horse. In this manner, she is somehow able to subdue and capture the fleeing villains. Adding to the excitement of the high-and-dizzy climax was the illusion created by the director that the heroine and her horse were indeed positioned atop the ferris wheel, though the critic from Variety raised the possibility that dummies had been used.
