The title character in this Gaumont drama is a crooked cardsharp. The "hero" is shown plying his trade at a plush gambling casino, surrounded by attractive and admiring females. Despite the "uncinematic" nature of card games, the film builds to an exciting climax, as the cheat pulls one too many aces out of his sleeves. The Variety reviewer was particularly impressed by this final scene, praising the uncredited director for his staging and the photographer for his slick camerawork. However, no mention was made of the actors -- not even "the cheat."
