This three-part story concerns occupied Greece during three different struggles and starts with "The Secret Wedding." The British invasion of Cyprus in 1957 finds a young farm-girl in love with a brave resistance fighter. After they are married, the groom is forces to flee from the British troops. "The Clock" takes place during the 1943 Italian invasion of Greece in which a priggish commander tries to drag the townsfolk into the modern world. The Greeks infuriate the military man with their willingness to wait out the war with as little personal involvement as possible. The giant clock in the town square is halted by a lack of oil and is symbolic of the commander's failure to instill a sense of urgency on the local population. In "Adversaries," director and writer George Cambanellis plays a German officer sent to Greece in 1944. Staying with a local family, he develops a friendship with the owner until the war tears them apart.
