This drama was based on the novel by David Anderson. A pearl hunter (Pell Trenton) lives with his sick mother (Margaret McWade) on a houseboat on the Wabash River. He knows nothing of his background, only that when he was very young his father deserted his mother. The pearl hunter and his mother find a cabin on shore and later on, he meets a girl who is picking wild roses (Elinor Field). That night, a stranger (Harry S. Northrup) comes to the cabin and orders the pearl hunter to leave, but the pearl hunter throws him out. The stranger, it turns out, is a bandit who has been terrorizing the area, and he comes back to cause trouble after the pearl hunter finds a valuable "blue moon" pearl. Unfortunately, his mother dies before he can reap the rewards of its sale. The buyer (Sidney Franklin) stays overnight at the cabin, but the next day he is found dead and the pearl is missing. His boat crew accuses the pearl hunter of the crime and the sheriff (Frederick Monley) arrests him on suspicion of being the bandit. The pearl hunter escapes and, after telling the girl his story, tracks down the bandit himself. He forces him to reveal where he has hidden the blue moon pearl. The bandit escapes and tries to kidnap the girl. He is shot by the sheriff, but before he dies, he reveals the lies he spread about the pearl hunter's mother.
