Tom Watts directed the 1919 6-reeler The Autocrat. At the beginning of the film, Jack Blake (Reginald Fox) is the bane of his military family. Disowned by his admiral father (Ralph Foster) Jack goes it alone, hoping to make good. He succeeds beyond his wildest dreams by exposing the true villain in his family, his priggish cousin Philip (William Brandon). In so doing, Jack also manages to rescue his sister from disgrace, and to claim the heroine (Ethel Douglas Ross) as his bride.
